Some of you may have noticed that I disappeared for a few days here after just getting back into blogging again. My husband’s family started a new tradition last year of renting a house on a lake somewhere and all spending time together. I love that it fell so close to back-to-school time this year because it was just the thing I needed to recharge before the school chaos begins. I know all of you that are parents that have kids in school can relate!
While we were staying on the lake I was able to catch three of the most gorgeous sunsets. It occurred to me that despite there being a sunrise/sunset each day, I’ve rarely seen many. It struck me as proof that we can often get so caught up in our lives that we don’t take time to see the beauty that is right in front of us.
It often seems like we spend so much time planning out these grand and sometimes expensive vacations but we may miss what truly matters: spending time together as a family. I may not remember every detail of every vacation my parents ever took me on as a kid but I do remember this: we had fun together. I’m thankful that my parents made sure we were able to have those memories decades and decades later. It was never about where we traveled but just about loving each other and taking time for one another.
So when it comes time to plan something with your family simply ask yourself, how much time will we really get to spend together? Take the time to be WITH them. For those of you that work, consider taking a vacation day this year, not to travel far or to see exotic places, but to just show your kids that you care by being there on their first day of school or getting to attend one of their school events that happens during the day.
Time truly does fly by fast so make sure you look back with no regrets.
Thank you all for hanging with me while I made the most precious memories with my family. You’ll see me back to regular blogging all the more after school starts here next week. So make sure you are ready for those deals that are coming your way! 🙂
