Here’s the synopsis on their site:
FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.
Among several main characters, FRESH features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, the recipient of MacArthur’s 2008 Genius Award; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur, Joel Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma; and supermarket owner, David Ball, challenging our Wal-Mart dominated economy.
I am a fan of both this movie and Food, Inc. and I challenge all of you to watch either or both of them if you haven’t already–make it part of your Earth Day resolutions! Not only did I learn so much from these movies but it was just the push I needed to switch my family to healthier food–and to try to do all I can to purchase it locally as much as possible. These movies literally changed my life and I’m hoping you’ll take an hour or so out of your week to tune in and educate yourself.
Note: If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can also stream Food Inc. for Free. Be sure to check the price as they can change at any time!
