Giveaway: $25 Grocery Store Gift Card – Winner’s Choice – 2 Winners

One of the hardest things about starting to eat healthier is that a lot of the produce and healthier foods come with a much higher price tag and rarely have coupons. I’m happy that a few more of the Organic and Produce companies are starting to release coupons now and again.

One of the ways to save on produce is to eat What’s in Season. Over the Spring/Summer months, I post things to look for that you might be able to find seasonal savings on. It’s a little tougher to find as many savings in the winter months, though. Just keep watching for produce “loss leaders,” which are items that the stores drop to a lower price to entice you into the store, with the hope that you’ll buy more things.

I wanted to encourage my readers to eat a little healthier and am sponsoring this giveaway so that two lucky readers that win this giveaway will be able to pick a $25 Grocery Store Gift Card of their choice-the only catch is that they’ll have to buy healthier foods with it!

Even after spending several years trying to focus on buying from farmers, choosing Organic and eating healthier, it can still be hard for me to pay the higher prices. As a veteran couponer, I know how easy it is to get so much food for cheap or even free. I just keep reminding myself that in the long-run, it’s the best thing for our health. I’m glad that when I tell the kids that they can pick any one item in the store that they always choose some type of fruit. And when I stop and think that I could pay $3 for blueberries or $3+ on a bag of greasy potato chips, I’m happy to dish out the money for those blueberries.

I’m hoping that over the course of this month that you will all accept a challenge to do what you can to buy most of your foods in the outer aisles of your grocery stores. Those are where most of your healthier foods are and most of the processed foods tend to be in the middle aisles.

Remember, you can’t win $25 in healthy foods at a grocery store of your choice if you don’t enter!

NOTE: Beneath this posting is the word “Comments.” This is where you’ll put your entries. Only entries on this posting will be counted.

Winner will be chosen using a giveaway service and contacted by email. If you’re the winner, you’ll have only 48 hours to respond or an alternate will be chosen.

  1. Hilda says

I love berries as they come in to season. Fresh strawberries with a melon mixture is the best!

  2. Jaimie A says

I would definitely get a lot of fruit and veggies. I would also try and pick up a few staple products for homemade meals, like chicken stock and spices. Thanks for the chance!

  3. Mayo B says

We eat pretty healthy anyway, but lots of squash and strawberries and fresh fruit would make my hetahens happy!

  4. kvnsgrl says

I would love to be able to buy lots of quality seasonal produce. Too often, I can only afford the basics like carrots, celery, and sweet potato. So I’d love to be able to try feeding my husband something more fresh and seasonal like winter squash.

  5. Karen B says

I would buy fruits and veggies, especially salad ingredients. Love fresh red peppers but they are so expensive this time of year.

  6. Jessie says

  7. Rachel Byrne says

I’d really like to try Earthbound Farms’ new washed and bagged baby kale! I’ve steered clear of kale but it is so good for you, and I’ve heard that the baby version is tasty.

  8. says

I”m crazy about buying all the “in season” berries I can. Then I mix them with my greek yogurt to make a smoothie. It’s a great way to start the day. Then for lunch I have celery with peanut butter.

  9. Sydney says

If I had a $25 gift card for groceries, I would stock up on fresh organic produce for my daughter as well as some lean meats! We have been making a lot of smoothies and I love keeping everything pre-cut in freezer so we can pop a handful of fruits and veggies right into the blender any time of day. I could also get 3 pounds of boneless/skinless chicken breasts for under $5 with a price match to a local butcher in town! With my grocery store also price-matching local farmer’s markets, I could stretch the remaining $20 to get organic fruits and vegetables well beyond retail value!

  10. alisha stennett says

I would buy snow peas, carrots, bean sprouts, peppers, cabbage, and mushrooms and make a stirfry for my famiy

  11. Ashley says

It is hard for me to try new things in the produce department. It usually cost more than i want to spend and there is the chance that i won’t like it and it ends up in the trash. If i won I would buy a vegetable that i have never bought before and try it out. I’d also but a couple favorites, I love fresh pineapple and strawberries!

  13. tess says

This is something I’m struggling with now– we have been transitioning to eating mainly organic, but there are some items I struggle with in terms of making the “jump,” including pasta, snacks, and cheese. (plus I’m still drinking soda, but that’s a WHOLE other problem!) It’s hard to spend on some items in organic knowing I can get them free or nearly so in conventional. I’m getting there, though!
