I finally got a chance to watch Christmas in Canaan last night and I thought it was a very heart-warming film–and I wish I had watched it earlier in the holiday season.
It starts off with a bunch of school kids on a bus in Canaan, Texas during the 1960s when there’s a lot of racial tension still going on. Two young boys from different backgrounds get into a scuffle and their Dad and Grandma force them to stay in each other’s houses for a week.
The movie then proceeds to tell the story of their lives for the next decade or so–and stars Billy Ray Cyrus. I honestly got choked up during the “Some Christmas” scene and it really touched me on how some families do have to make do with that type of Christmas—and yet that’s how it should truly be, about the spirit of family and love.
Vivendi Entertainment was very kind to offer me one copy of Christmas in Canaan to offer to THREE of my lucky readers.
