As promised, it’s Wednesday and I am giving away a children’s book choice (up to $20 to spend on children’s books on Amazon!) to two of my lucky readers. Each Wednesday through August, I’ll be doing this giveaway. It’s just my way of encouraging all of you to spend time each week reading with a child and sharing the love of books with them.
Over Father’s Day weekend, we decided to have our annual “backyard camping” adventure with the kids. Since they are too little to really camp elsewhere, we just pop-up the tent in our own backyard and “pretend” we are elsewhere. You can read more about our adventures under Backpack Treks.
So to get them ready for camping, I started reading them Turtle and Snake Go Camping
(which we found at our Library during their summer program) and Camping Out. I have to say that it really helped them understand the concept a little better and they were all excited when the tent was up and they thought they were going to sleep outside.
How This Giveaway Works
There will be two winners. Each winner gets to spend up to $20 on Amazon selecting children’s books. The winners can pick more than one book, just as long as the total value is $20 or less. The items must be in stock and ship free with Amazon Prime. I thought it would be fun to let the winner’s pick their own books than to choose a specific book to giveaway each week.
If this sounds like something you’d like to win, make sure you enter!

My little girl is going to be 5 in September (sniff, sniff), so we are reading “it’s hard to be 5″! We are reading it at least once a day at this point – it was my 9 year old’s favorite book at this age too! Highly recommend!

Hi! Love your site!
My husband and I have two kids, our son E is 7 months and daughter G is nearly 13. Our son likes reading (shouting, really) one of those soft baby books called “Night Night, Peter Rabbit.” My daughter is reading “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, and yes, she makes us do voices for each character. =)
We just requested Charlotte’s Web from the library so that we can read it at the same time as our best friends.
I subscribed – happily – to the blog.

I read a book to my son every night. I let him choose a different book every night. He usually chooses a dr. Suess book. He thinks they are silly.

My youngest brought home “Don’t Laugh at Me” by Steve Seskin from the library and we were reading it together yesterday afternoon. I am looking for the very first Nancy Drew book right now as I think the girls might enjoy it if we read that aloud together. Until I can get my hands on that, I think we will go back to Emily Rodda’s fairy books.
