Reduce, Re-use, Recycle: Coffee & Frosting Containers

March 12, 2009

Here are this week’s containers: Folgers plastic coffee can and Betty Crocker Frosting can.

Previously, I’ve shared with you a lid toy you can make from the Folgers can and a personalized crayon holder for the frosting container. (By the way, I’ve found that the Folgers can is the perfect size for those jumbo crayons, too.)

But this time, we made this:

The frosting can sits inside the coffee can, allowing drainage for the plant! I wrote up how Nathan and I made it here.

The great part is, if we ever decide we don’t want the planter anymore, everything comes off and we can recycle them, just like we would have had we not found a re-use for them.
